Der Einsatz des Hundes zu sportlichen Zwecken sollte sich an der Veranlagung, der Leistung und dem Arbeitswillen des Hundes orientieren. Es ist Sache des Menschen, die Talente des Hundes zu entdecken.
Der Lagotto ist gehorsam, genügsam, aufgeweckt, liebenswürdig, seinem Herrn treu ergeben und leicht auszubilden. Er ist zudem ein ausgezeichneter Begleit- und Wachhund.
Sie sind eine Arbeitsrasse, also brauchen sie eine Aufgabe. Sie brauchen eine Menge Training und Beständigkeit.
Es wird empfohlen, den Lagotto frühzeitig zu sozialisieren und zu trainieren, damit er sich zu einem ausgeglichenen erwachsenen Hund entwickeln kann.

Neben der Vorbereitung auf Ausstellungen wollten wir eine Sportart für unseren Hund wählen. Nach Abwägung verschiedener Aspekte bereitet sich unser Hund Lagotto auf die BH-VT-Begleithundeprüfung vor. Auf diese Weise können wir ihm einen sportlichen Lebensstil bieten und ihm die Möglichkeit geben, ständig zu lernen.
